The nearly-extinct Golden Frog is native to Anton's Valley.

El Valle is home to around 500 species of birds, including some of the rarest and most beautiful species in the world.

Rufous-vented Ground-Cuckoo Neomorphus geoffroyi

The Rufous-vented Ground-Cuckoo is an almost mythical species, the "Holy Grail" for many birders visiting Panama. It is a ground-dwelling and shy follower of army ant swarms, and most birders are happy with even a fleeting glimpse of this elusive species. The El Valle area is the best place in the world to find this spectacular bird- expert researchers in South American have gone years without spotting any of the several ground-cuckoo species that reside there; in El Valle we find them on a regular basis, and often see them quite clearly!
